Meet Best in Show Buddha

My mom Dorothy O’Connor Heater, owned (not bred - although she did breed champions) a Lhasa Apso Named Ch On-Ba Khabul Khan of Sharbo "Buddha". He was bred by On-Ba Lhasas Ellie
Baumann in California - the father was Best in Show Lhasa Ch Sharbo's Zer Khan.
Buddha was his call name. His registered name was Multi Best In Show American Canadian Bermudian Champion On-Ba Khabul Khan of Sharbo. He
was the top USA Lhasa Apso in '75 and '76. He was a pick of the litter pup. He won at Westminster 2 years in a row (shown by my mom in the Breed win against approximately 80 champion Lhasas
from around the country). He won a group 4 in '75, then he got group 2 in '76. I believe that’s the highest a Lhasa Apso ever achieved at Westminster up until that day (at Madison Square Garden, New York City).
He was a perfect example of the breed.
Handled to his fame by John Murdock across the country!
On the AKC home page - http://www.akc.org/breeds/lhasa_apso/index.cfm - under Lhasa Apso, the example photo that was drawn of the ideal Lhasa Apso was of a photo of Buddha. It was drawn by a pediatrician, Dr Catherine Marley, who lived on the east side of New Jersey. She writes excellent Lhasa Apso articles on the internet.
When Mom showed at Westminster you had to have championship points to enter. Now I think you might need to be a champion to enter.
In 1978, a picture was needed for a book printed
about the Westminster Kennel Club - Buddha is the Lhasa Apso pictured !!
